Reader Central

Legal

Terms of Service

Last updated August 3, 2026.

This is a draft, plain-language terms page describing how Reader Central is meant to be used. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer - treat it as a starting point before sending this app to real users.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Reader Central account. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up (and, if you sign up with Google, right after) specifically to enforce this - we don't knowingly allow anyone under 13 to use the service, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll remove it.

Using Reader Central

Reader Central is a reading tracker and community for cataloguing books, writing reviews, and connecting with other readers. You need an account to add books, review, or join clubs. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe.

Content you post

You own what you write - reviews, club posts, comments. By posting it, you give us permission to display it within the app to the people it's visible to (based on your privacy settings). Don't post anything you don't have the right to share, and mark spoilers as spoilers.

What's not allowed

  • Harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse of other readers.
  • Spam, review-bombing, or coordinated brigading of reviews or ratings.
  • Impersonating another person or misrepresenting your identity.
  • Attempting to abuse, scrape at scale, or disrupt the service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms. Reviews can be flagged by other readers and are automatically hidden once enough trusted accounts report them.

No warranty

Reader Central is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Book data (covers, descriptions, publication details) comes from third-party sources like Open Library and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
